Wednesday, April 18th

April 22nd is designated as Earth Day. Earth Day was first observed on April 22nd 1970. The founder of Earth Day is considered to be Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin. This is a day designed to educate people on how to improve our environment. Earth & Turf has been dedicated to improving the soil by topdressing with organics. We believe a heathy soil requires less chemical herbicides and pesticides which can end up in the ground water supply. The Earth has been in a warming cycle for 1000's of years since the last Ice Age. One thing for sure as this warming cycle continues, until the next Ice Age, good clean water will be important to sustain life. Have a wonderful Earth Day this weekend. You can search the web to learn more about this subject.

March marks the beginning of the spring Topdressing season even though the weather this year has been quite crazy. Now is the time to do spring aeration and topdressing and the season will run through May. Aeration and topdressing do wonders for the turf. The aeration opens up the soil so the roots can get the proper oxygen and moisture and topdressing helps reduce thatch. Topdressing with compost also adds organic matter to the soil, improves microbial action and helps the turf survive better if conditions turn dry. So get your Topdresser ready and go improve you turf by improving the soil.
