The International Compost Awareness week is coming up. The dates are May 3-9, 2009. It is highly important that we begin to think in terms of recycling as much as possible. Compost is one of the ways we all can recycle. If you have you own compost pile or tumbler or you take your clippings and trimming to your local compost recycling center you are helping the cause. The compost can be used in you flower beds, gardens or topdressed on to your lawn. For more information on Compost Awareness Week you can go to www.compostingcouncil.org . Have a great Spring and let's keep the Earth Green.

Topdressing season has already begun in the south and the northern states are getting ready. Many turf maintenance professionals are now getting the fact that the organic side of the business is growing and they are asking questions on how to get started. In the case of the lawn care people, many are tired of cutting grass with all the stiff competition and making very little money so they are looking for alternative niches and topdressing is one of them. Homeowners are getting smarter about putting too many chemicals on their lawns and are beginning to ask for a more organic approach to lawn care. Contractors are seeing the trend and are getting on the band wagon by purchasing a topdresser. There is more than one way to get green grass. Organics work and are better for our soil and water supply.
