Canadian cities are moving quickly to stop the use of pesticides and move to a more natural approach to maintaining lawns and gardens. One example is the city of Stratford, Ontario. They have a new web site that you should check out, http://www.city.stratford.on.ca/naturally/index.asp . The site has a bunch of great information on taking a natural approach for lawn and land care. Since Earth & Turf Topdressers play an important part in the green movement we want to keep you abreast on what is happening in the Green Industry. We have always known that topdressing with compost was a wise choice and have spent the last several years making products to topdress and aerate turf areas. It won't be long before the movement in Canada spills over into the United States. Having safe areas for our children to play and the future of having a clean water supply depends on us making changes to the way we do things on our turf grass areas and in our gardens.

Earth & Turf Products LLC. has introduced the new model 320 Hydraulic Multispread topdresser. The new 320 Hydraulic topdresser is driven from the tractor hydraulics and has separate speed controls for the widespread beater and the apron belt. This new design allows for a wide range of spreading options. The topdressing season is well under way and we continue to find more people interested in adding earth friendly materials to their soil. We anticipated continued growth in this market due to the "Go Green" movement.

May 4-10 is the International Compost Awareness Week. Consumers are becoming more and more aware of the benefits of using compost as a topdressing. Earth & Turf Products has a keen interest in compost for two reasons. First we manufacture topdressers to spread compost and second we believe compost is good for our soils. With a topdresser, homeowners, schools, municipalities and golf courses can amend their turf areas and add needed organic material to the soil. A good compost will improve the soil and the soil microbiology. To learn more about the International Compost Awareness Week you can also log onto www.compostingcouncil.org . The more we learn the better off our planet will be.
